Easy Peasy Straw Cover

Supplies Needed:

Small amounts of Paton’s Grace, but any #3 Light Weight Yarn will work

Size D/3.25mm hook (I crochet very tightly, so you may use a B or C)

Glossary:

MC – Magic Circle (Magic Loop, Magic Ring)

beg – beginning

sc – single crochet

ch – chain

BLO – Back Loop Only

hdc – half double crochet

dc – double crochet

slst – slip stitch

FO – fasten off

Start by working 7sc into a Magic Circle.  HERE is a great pic and video tutorial for the magic circle if you don’t know how to do one.  Slst to join in beg sc.

Round 1:  ch 1, in BLO, hdc in each stitch around.  Slst to join to beg hdc. [at this point I sew on the flower, because it’s easier now than later]

Round 2: ch 1, hdc in each stich around for 21 stitches. (be sure to skip the ch 1 from the beginning of this round.)   Slst in the next st.

Round 3:  ch 35, hdc in 8th ch from hook and in each ch back to the first one. FO.  Weave in end.

That’s it!  I added a flower to mine, but you can do anything!  Here’s the pattern for the flower I used:

Work 5sc into a MC, join with a slst to beg sc. FO

Attach petal color and *ch 3, 2dc ch 3, slst in same st. Slst in next st.* Repeat from * to * around in each st. FO leaving a long enough tail to sew flower onto top of straw cover.

Enjoy!!

Just keep going for 21sts. You are not stopping after 7. Skip the ch 1 and keep going. So you’re going around 3 times. (7×3=21).

I hope you’re able to help me… I’m missing something, bc following the steps, row 1 has 7 st in the mc. When starting on row 2, how do you get to 21 sts? Thanks. Have a wonderful day.

Does the yarn leave hairs on the straw?
